Scottish National Age Groups April 2008
Glasgow School of Sport swimmers recently competed at the Scottish National Age Group Championships at Tollcross. The swimmers had a fantastic haul of medals and finalists. The swimmers competed for their home clubs: City of Glasgow, Ren 96 and South Lanarkshire however the performances show a clear indication that the links between the club and school programme are strengthening each year.

Rachel Tedeschi and Cheryl Bond |
Rachel Tedeschi S3 was another School of Sport swimmer to shine at the nationals. Her best performance came in the 1500m freestyle with a gold winning performance showing that she is tough over the distance events. Rachel kept up the momentum by winning a further three bronze medals and finishing top ten in four other events altogether a fantastic performance.
Cheryl Bond S5 took the silver in the 100m and 200m Butterfly events after her events she has set her sights to get back to the top and win the double next year. This is the attitude we are striving for from all the swimmers within the school.
The Scottish Age groups were attended by several English swimming clubs helping to push the standards of age group swimming higher than ever. I am delighted that the swimmers within the School of Sport are raising their personal standards to compete at the top level of age group swimming. I am expecting a larger group of swimmers to attend the British Nationals this summer so we can once again swim with the best in Britain. Well done to all the swimmers and parents for a great event last week.
