Glasgow Schools Finals News - 29 October 2007
Well done to all swimmers on the successful qualification to the Glasgow School Finals. The finals will be held at Whitehill Pool in Glasgow on 29 October 2007 at 6.30 pm.
The new swim kit has been ordered and should be issued by the Glasgow School Finals on 29 October 2007. Look out for the new design and any comments should be sent to Andrena Hammond by email at andrena.hammond@csglasgow.org.
Arriva "Stars of the Future" Competition Success
Congratulations to David Morgan (S2) who was awarded the Arriva “Stars of the Future” competition. David managed to beat 300 other hopefuls which was a fantastic achievement.

Lanzarote Training Camp
All letters regarding the Lanzarote training camp have been issued and all returns are due by 2 November 2007. A meeting will be arranged in early December 2007 to give any final details regarding the camp.
Scottish Schools Heats
The provisional date for the Scottish Schools Heats is Monday 12 November 2007 at Whitehill Pool. Letters will be issued to all pupils when this is confirmed. Any parent who is a qualified official and can help out at this competition should contact Andrena by email at andrena.hammond@csglasgow.org.
West of Scotland Selection - Inter District Championships October 2007
Congratulations to Becky Hillis, Fraser Smith, Jamie McKinley, Megan Donnelly and David Morgan for their recent selection to the West of Scotland team for the Inter District Championships in October 2007. Good Luck!

Scottish National Age Groups April 2007
The swimmers within the Glasgow School of Sport had their most successful championship with a fantastic haul of medals and finalists. The swimmers competed for their home clubs: City of Glasgow, Ren 96, South Lanarkshire and North Ayrshire however the performances show a clear indication that the links between the club and school programme are strengthening to the benefit of the swimmers.
David Morgan S1 had an outstanding competition with an age group record of five gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze medal over the four days. His personal highlight was the 200 metres butterfly where he broke the age group record on day four of the competition.
The 1500 metres freestyle was a fantastic event for the School of Sport boys where they won three of the five age groups over this distance: Mark Deans S1 10-12years, Jamie McKinley S2 13years and Glenn McIntosh S3 14years. Fraser Smith S6 narrowly missed out on a medal for the 16-18year age group finishing 4th.
Cheryl Bond S4 dominated the 15 years butterfly events with first place finishes in both the 100 metres & 200 metres butterfly events.
Rebecca Hillis S6 continued the gold medal count in the 100 metres & 200 metres breaststroke and the 800 metres freestyle events.

Scottish Schools International Meet: 9-11 March 2007
Following their recent outstanding performances in the pool Rebecca Hillis (S6) and Cheryl Bond (S4) were selected to compete for Scotland at the Scottish Schools International Meet. The girls attended the competition in Ireland on the 9th-11th March 2007 where both swam personal best times. This competition was a team event against the home nations. Scotland finished second behind England which was an outstanding result for the team.
Events 2007
Each swimmer will compete for their home club throughout each season. The swimmers will compete for the school in the both the Scottish Schools and Glasgow School swimming events detailed below:
October/November - Glasgow Schools Association Heats and Finals (Finals 29 October 2007) December - Scottish Schools Swimming Association Heats (12 December 2007 - TBC)
January - Scottish Schools Swimming Association Finals (Finals - TBC)
June - Scottish Schools Swimming Association Relay Team Event (Relay Team Event - TBC)
Throughout the school year the Swimming Coaches will attend National swimming events to collate information and monitor each child within the school. There will be a school of sport swim coach attending the following National Events.
