Kirstie Law - High Performance Coach Strength and Conditioning graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University in 1998, with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy. After graduating, she worked at Glasgow’s Victoria Infirmary, The Craighalbert Centre, Govanhill and Pollok Health Centres.
During secondary school, Kirstie gained National Representative Honours in athletics as a sprint hurdler. She then began weightlifting competitively and became the first women to represent Scotland at the Commonwealth Games. Kirstie has also represented Great Britain at World and European Championships, claiming a British Record in the process. Kirstie began her career in coaching at the West of Scotland Institute of Sport and joined the School of Sport in 2001. |

Kevin Watson - High Performance Coach Strength and Conditioning is the High Performance Strength & Conditioning Coach responsible for conditioning. Kevin graduated in 2002 from the University of Strathclyde with a BSc (Hons) in Sport & Exercise Science and worked as a sport scientist with the West of Scotland Institute of Sport and Glasgow School of Sport. Kevin is currently employed as a sport science consultant to provide sport science support for the athletes within the School of Sport programme. Kevin also coaches within the sport of rowing and runs his own sport science consultancy. He is currently studying part-time for an MSc in Strength & Conditioning at Edinburgh University.
As a rower, Kevin competed at the Commonwealth Rowing Championships where he won a silver medal in the quadruple sculls. He has been Scottish Champion several times and has won three British Championship gold medals in the single sculls. He has also competed for Great Britain and Scotland throughout his rowing career. |

Raymond Cavanagh - Assistant High Performance Coach Strength and Conditioning spent most of his working days caring for handicapped children before returning to college to study health & fitness. Prior to taking up his post as Assistant High Performance Coach in Strength and Conditioning at the School of Sport, Raymond was involved in developing the West of Scotland Institute of Sport Strength & Conditioning program. Raymond has a Higher National Certificate in Health & Fitness gained from Cardonald College. Raymond has enjoyed sporting success. He has been Scottish weightlifting champion many times over, and has represented Scotland at the 1994 Commonwealth Games gaining 8th place. He has also been successful in bringing through many youngsters into the sport, and this was recognised in his appointment as one of the coaching staff at the 2002 Commonwealth Games to the only female lifter to represent Scotland at the Commonwealth Games to date where she gained fourth place. Raymond also coaches at Great Britain level for the female Under 23 team and does a lot of organising of squad weekends within his post as BWLA Selection Officer.
