Glasgow School of Sport has struck a sponsorship package with the Glasgow based electronic security company, Sim Ltd. The sponsorship package has already made a huge impact with Glasgow School of Sport touring Glasgow primary schools and introducing children to the possibility of combining a chosen sport with their secondary education. Angela Porter, Director of the Glasgow School of Sport, said "The race is really on to find the stars of tomorrow. Apart from the proven benefits that involvement in sport brings to children, our city hosting the Commonwealth Games in 2014 makes this a very exciting time to be involved in sport at any level and this money will help us spread the message." |

Andy Sim, who is the managing director of Sim Ltd, a company specialising in Fire and Intruder alarm systems and CCTV installation, said "I spent twenty five years motor racing and have benefitted greatly from lessons learnt hard within a competitive arena. Our employees have worked to position Sim Ltd as one of the highest accredited businesses in our sector-similar to the dedication and tenacity demonstrated by the pupils of Glasgow School of Sport. This is a big reason why we are so proud to be supporting them. "The Glasgow School of Sport offers not only a fantastic opportunity for youngsters, but a nurturing environment to teach athletes how to maximise their potential. "As a Glasgow-based business, working nationwide, our involvement with the Glasgow School of Sport at Bellahouston Academy helps to put us on a world stage in this the dawning of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow." Angela Porter concludes, "The School of Sport provides world class coaching in Hockey, Gymnastics, Badminton, Athletics and Swimming and with Sim Ltd's investment we have been able to introduce our senior sports pupils and recent graduates to coaching. Who better to inspire and motivate the next generation of talent than our young people. Our school is celebrating its 10 year anniversary of sporting excellence and the boost that Sim Ltd has given to us all has been incredible." Twenty three coaches have so far been involved in this project including four recent graduates from the School of Sport and fifteen of our current sports pupils, aged 14 to 18 years. These young coaches have been working as 'apprentice' coaches shadowing the high performance coaching team. All senior pupils have been able to participate in coach education courses equipping them with valuable qualifications and employability skills. |

A Word from our Sponsor - Sim Ltd. "The business has grown organically over the last 5 years by identifying key personnel and accruing necessary accreditation in order to trade successfully in a demanding, technology driven and labour intensive industry. Our company benefits from a customer base which is predominantly business orientated. My own journey to here and now has been slightly unconventional, although it is a pleasing by product of today's society that convention need no longer be necessary for success. The over protective nature of society comes in for much criticism too, but as a result of this political overload we rarely have to put up with the bigoted, sectarian and ethnic rubbish that I endured as a child living in Larkhall. I chose to leave the parochial mess and it set me on a course of involvement with sport. For me, sport has been integral to my life, specifically competition. From an early age, I was lucky to be included in the race. Competition was a platform from which family support enabled me to dream. I was taught that first you must have a dream and then you can work on the talent. The disappointments and elation of my sporting journey have tempered every single achievement and disaster that has befallen me since. At the time, it seemed that nothing else could possibly be as bad as failing at the pinnacle of success, or succeeding when no one else believed you could. I strongly believe that these adventures, images, fights won and lost, temper the experience of, and are relative to, everyone's own personal endeavours. Onward as life unfolds. These are the reasons that rightly or wrongly, I sincerely believe that if we give our single biggest investment - our youth, a purpose, positive reinforcement, the opportunity to compete - we permit them to dream. Dreams are only limited by imagination. If we don't have imagination, we don't have much. This is why I am very proud to be supporting The Glasgow School of Sport and Bellahouston Academy and why I believe the school is really one big dream catcher." Andrew Sim
