High Five Pupil Awards - Highlighting Excellence at the School

2008/2009 Awards

Throughout the year all sports pupils work extremely hard training and competing in their sport. One or two individuals within the Glasgow School of Sport will however ‘stand out’ a little more than others due to an outstanding result or performance or by the tremendous improvements that they have shown in the course of the year.

Glasgow School of Sport is proud of the achievements of all its pupils and each year the coaching team is charged with nominating two pupils within their sport to be put forward for two high profile Glasgow School of Sport Awards: Outstanding Achievement and Most Improved Performer.

Voting takes place in the month of June each year and a range of the School of Sport partners are invited to vote. Coaches are not able to vote for their own nominee.

Voting has taken place for our annual pupil awards.

Nominees

Outstanding Achievement Award Nominees

Nominees for the Outstanding Achievement Award were athlete Mahad Ahmed, badminton player Josh Neil, swimmer Glen McIntosh and hockey player Ben Peterson.

Outstanding Achievement Award Winner

The 2008/09 winner is Mahad Ahmed who was delighted to receive the award. "I'd never thought I'd win as the other nominees had achieved so much. I hope to go on and be as good as Usain Bolt and inspire others."

Most Improved Performer Award Nominees

This year's nominees for Most Improved Performer were athlete Ingles Lumfuankenda, badminton player Adam Hall, gymnast Gemma Aird, swimmer Callum Baxter and hockey player Amy Lui.

Most Improved Performer Award Winner

This year's (2008/09) winner is Adam Hall. Here's what he had to say - "I worked really hard on my fitness this year and it's really paid off. This has given me the motivation to keep training hard and be even better next season."

Congratulations to all the nominees in both categories and to our winners Mahad and Adam.
