Badminton Team

Image of Craig Robertson Craig Robertson - High Performance Coach Badminton has worked with BadmintonScotland on the Junior High Performance Programme and supported Area and Scottish Institute of Sport Programmes. He spent time as a self employed coach and lived in Denmark, while playing for Lillerød Badminton Club. Qualified as an Advanced Coach, Craig is also a Coach Tutor and worked for Glasgow City Council as Racquet Sports Development Officer.

Craig started playing at age 11 and has represented Scotland’s National Junior Teams at all age levels prior to becoming a Senior Internationalist and gaining 76 International Caps. Craig competed in the Thomas Cup, European, World Championships and the Commonwealth Games, where he won a Bronze Medal in the Badminton Team event in Manchester 2002. Other playing achievements include Men’s Doubles champion at the Austrian Open in 1998 and at the Irish Open in 2000. Domestically he has won Scottish Invitation Singles, Scottish National Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles titles.

Recently Craig was part of a delegation that visited Zambia to arrange a pre-Olympic Training Camp 2012 for their National teams and led the badminton camp in Glasgow which involved preparation of Zambian players for the All African Games.

Craig has an HND in Sports Coaching with Development and a BSc in Sports Studies from the University of Paisley.

Image of Iain Pringle Iain Pringle- Assistant High Performance Coach Badminton is an ex-international player with 50 caps to his credit while competing in European, World Championships and Commonwealth Games. Iain Spent 7 years as Head Coach to Glasgow’s Talent Squad and 3 years as West of Scotland Institute of Sport Head Badminton Coach. In addition Iain has worked with National Junior Teams, including the European Junior Team in 2002.

Qualified as BadmintonScotland Advanced Coach, Iain spent a year as Head Coach at the School of Sport.

 

Image of Lena Robertson

Lena Robertson - Assistant High Performance Coach Badminton is an experienced coach who has worked with the Under 17 National Team (UK School Games) Under 16 and Under 19 National Squads. In addition to this Lena works with the National Junior Satellite Squads and various regional Satellite Squads. Lena is a Junior and Community Sports Leader Tutor and works with School of Sport students on a weekly basis, tutoring leadership skills on their Sport Education syllabus.

As a player Lena represented Scotland at Junior Level and is now qualified as an Advanced Coach and BadmintonScotland Coach Education Tutor. Lena has an HND in Sports Coaching with Development and a BSc in Sports Studies from the University of Paisley .
