The development of athletes begins in year one and two with the building of endurance, stamina, strength, and skills. By developing pupils running technique for both sprints and endurance, and working on jumping and throwing skills, the school is able to channel students into event areas for which they show most talent.

At the end of years three and four pupils generally focus their efforts on one main event and one secondary event. All athletes are entered in regular competition at district and national level, and also encouraged to join an athletics club where they can compete in various leagues throughout the season.

Pupil progress is monitored continuously through fitness testing, the completion of training diaries and competition results. An athlete’s height and weight are also recorded to identify any growth spurts to allow training to be adjusted accordingly.

So if you think you’ve got what it takes to be a top athlete, get in touch with us, you may be a future Olympian.
